Market Report: Teays Valley, WV home sales up, median sales price sky rockets in December 2011.
40 Homes in Teays Valley, Hurricane and Winfield completed escrow in December. This was an 11% increase over December 2010.
The median sales price for homes jumped over 34% for December. In 2010, the median sales price for a Teays Valley home was $161,000. In 2011, the price was $215,950!
Teays Valley, Winfield and Hurricane make up the three major communities of Putnam County, WV. The area is largely unincorporated and is the second-fastest growing region in West Virginia.
While once a sleepy farm county, the area has experienced an explosion of growth as a result many Teays Valley houses for sale are new construction. The majority of homes are less than 15 - 20 years old, compared to the Charleston area where they are nearing 80 years or more.
The figures contained in this report are from the Kanawha Valley Board of REALTORS MLS. Homes that were sold by FSBO (For Sale By Owner) are not included in this report.
